    On the southern shore of Lake Baldeney in the Fischlaken district of Essen stands Haus Scheppen, a former noble feudal estate of Werden Abbey.

    The ruins of the north-west and south-east wings and the north-east wing, which is used for gastronomy, are still standing today. Especially in the warmer months, the car park in front of the house is a well-known bikers' meeting place. Haus Scheppen is also a landing stage for the White Fleet.
